Welcome to Hope United Methodist Church.

We’ve been waiting for you! It’s true, because we believe that every person who comes into the fellowship of this community of believers was sent by God in some way. It’s not by accident that we have the joy of meeting you. So we want to express Christ’s love to you with genuine, heartfelt warmth.

It won’t take you long to discover that Hope United Methodist Church is truly a family, rich in the relationships that matter most. Together, we worship, we pray, we serve, we laugh, we cry, we praise, we learn, and we reach out to our world.

Our doors are open. Our hearts are open, too. If you’ve been hoping for a place to belong, come check us out.

Family Activities

Community Cookout

A fun activity for the entire family and the surrounding community. In mid-August we set up our grills and haul the tables and chairs outside for a cookout. There is a bounce house out front for the little ones, lawn games, snow cones, and all the hotdogs and cookies you can eat. The house band plays oldies but goodies, and everyone is invited to dance or sing along.

Ladies Annual Retreat

For the last twenty-one years, the women of the church have taken time for a women’s retreat in October.  This year the retreat will take place at Michindoh Camp and Conference Center near Hillsdale, Michigan.  It’s a great time for a weekend of spiritual formation, fun, rest, games, and a movie.  All are welcome.

Faith Formation

Vacation Bible School

VBS is celebrated in July at Hope UMC where children have an opportunity to learn the stories of the Bible, play fun games, make crafts, and enjoy a delicious treat. All while growing in Christian faith and fellowship.

Short Term Bible Studies

Studies lasting from four to eight weeks are offered at various times and places during the year. They cover a variety of topics and books of the Bible.

Small Groups

Game Day

Do you like to play games?  Join this lively group of “yes competitive ” folks who meet every Thursday morning for a little game time!  Feel free to bring snacks or even a packed lunch for a great time of fellowship!  This group meets in the lower level of the church.  All are welcome!

Ladies Evening Circle

Women of faith who meet monthly to coordinate wholesome, missional or fun activities for the women of the church. The Ladies Evening Circle sponsors a spring Ladies Tea, a Christmas trip to see the Stranahan house, and a summer field trip. In addition, beginning in early August, they lead the drive to fill either school kits or health kits for the Festival of Sharing.

Hopeful Readers Book Club

The Women’s book club meets the fourth Monday of each month for a lively discussion of a popular, clean, current book.
